Earthquake and Swine Flu Outbreak Affect Global Travel Market
When arriving in Mexico to attend the 34th Annual Travel Industry Tradeshow, the largest travel tradeshow in Latin America called Tianguis Turistico, Brice Bay, the President and CEO of 10Best Solutions was greeted with the unexpected: the outbreak of swine flu and a 5.6 magnitude earthquake striking only 43 miles northeast of Acapulco, Mexico. Both of these tragedies are having numerous affects on the travel industry both globally and in Mexico.

Because of the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico, travel shares are down in the global market, time shares in airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and other hospitality-related businesses have also been affected. This outbreak has already killed over 100 in Mexico and has already spread to other parts of the world.
In addition to the tragedy of the swine flu outbreak, Mexico underwent the impact of a short, but high-magnitude earthquake that hit near Acapulco. Thankfully our CEO is still alive, but what an unfortunate series of events to happen in Mexico. The discussions at Tianguis Turistico Conference are sure to be different than planned, as the earthquake and the outbreak of swine flu-have greatly impacted the Latin American Travel Market.
